【摘要】:Thesetestmethodsareintendedtoprovideinformationfromwhichapplicabledesigndatacanbederivedfortheperformanceofmetalrailingsystemsandrailsinstalledandfastenedtostructuralelementsofconcrete,masonry,wood,andmetalaswellasrelatedproducts.Typicalfloor-mountedrailingsareshowninFig.1.FIG.1FrontViewsofSectionsofThreeTypicalRailingSystems1.1Thesetestmethodscoverprocedurestobefollowedintestingtheperformanceofpermanentmetalrailingsystems(guard,stair,andramp-railsystems)andrails(hand,wall,grab,andtransferrails)installedinandforagricultural,assembly,commercial,educational,industrial,institutional,recreational,andresidentialbuildings.1.2Thesetestmethodsareapplicabletosuchrailingsystemsandrailshavingmajorstructuralcomponentsmadeofmetal,withtheirsecondarycomponentsmadeofmetalorothermaterialssuchaswood,plastic,andglass.1.3Thesetestmethodscanbeusedtodeterminewhetherpermanentmetalrailingsystemsandrailscomplywithanticipatedperformancerequirementsoftheapplicablespecifications,codes,andstandards,suchasthosedescribedinSpecificationE985.1.4Specifically,thesetestmethodscoverproceduresfordeterminingthestaticstrengthofmetalrailingsystemsandrailsasstructuralelementswheninstalledandfastenedtoconcrete,masonry,wood,andmetalaswellasrelatedproducts.1.5Noconsiderationisgiveninthesetestmethodstoanypossibledeteriorationofmetalrailingsystems,rails,andconnections,resultingfromadverseenvironmentalconditions.Theperformanceofspecialtestscoveringthisaspectmaybedesirable.1.6Thesetestmethodsarelimitedtotheapplicationofconcentratedloadsdescribedherein.Whenevergivenuniformlydistributedloadsaretoberesistedbyarailingsystemorrailinaccordancewithgoverningspecifications,codes,andstandards,theeffectsofsuchuniformlydistributedloadsonthememberstressesshallbedeterminedbycalculationandthecorrespondingconcentratedloadsshallbegivenconsiderationduringtestinganddataevaluation.1.7Shouldcomputationsmakeitpossibletoprovidetheneededinformation,testingcanbeemployedforverification.1.8ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardstatement,seeNote0.
